Scope: Bridge Retrofit

This study includes designs for shared‐use paths, boardwalks, and attachments to bridge approach spans and bascule sections of the Ashley River Bridge along Hwy 17. The designs include: all necessary modifications to the concrete parapets located at either end of the bascule span to accommodate pathway and transitioning to the bascule mounted pathway, modifications to the navigational lighting to allow servicing from the sidewalk, adding structure to the opposite girder to achieve transverse span balance, prepare balance calculations for the bascule leafs, develop a plan to balance the bridge within the existing counterweight pockets and determine the increased load applied to the machinery due to the additional sidewalk and increased span weight.
